Who We Are:

We are a non-profit organization with over 50 years of history based in Henry County, Kentucky.

We come together to ADVOCATE for our communities and neighbors in preservation of the grand gifts of nature, our natural resources and heritage; aiding in actions to defend the ability to have a peaceful co-existence between commerce, agriculture, and neighborhoods thoughout our county, primarily in regard to rural or "rural adjacent" lands.

From our original 1972 ARTICLES of INCORPORATION:

ARTICLE III

The objects and purposes of this Corporation shall be characterized as educational and shall include specifically but not by way of limitation to preserve the land and natural resources, to oppose the construction and development of facilities which adversely affect the environment or for which there is no public need or justification, to oppose the expenditure of public funds on matters which are not in the best public interest, to encourage, on the other hand, the expenditure of such money on the conservation, preservation and improvement of the environment, to oppose those forms of urban expansion and colonization which would usurp the powers of local government, to solicit membership and financial support, to employ consultants, attorneys, or such other expert assistance as may be required in order to effectively promote the aforesaid objects and purposes.

Why We Are:

That involves a bit of HISTORY...and to say "bit", may be an understatement...

Concerned citizens initially joined forces to prevent a MAJOR airport from being built within our county, and impacting multiple surrounding counties. This preserved our fertile soil and farmlands and our abilities to retain a calm and peaceful rural setting to live and work, preserving nature, and respecting a heritage of centuries.

In the course of decades since we have as a group or allied individuals advocated regarding race tracks, distilleries (and associated concerns), sewage "treatment" (aka dumping), and more. Some actions have been successful and some not, yet we are STILL HERE, and for some time now, not widely known.

There are "trends" we keep watch over and by meeting and discussing we determine when to take action and what manner of action. We especially seek to EMPOWER THE PUBLIC to be able to stand up for itself and that requires knowledge, leadership and determination. So many times we have seen neighbors suddenly discovering an adjacent (or near) construction and have felt powerless to do anything or even know where to start.
